Ayushmann Khurrana Recites The Bhagavad Gita While Representing India At 2023 Time100 Impact Awards - WATCH VIDEO
Bollywood's versatile actor Ayushmann Khurrana has been felicitated with the TIME100 Impact award this year. The Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui star was the only Indian actor at the event as he took the award last night in Singapore. Interestingly, the actor quoted a verse from the holy Bhagavad Gita during his acceptance speech. In his opening remarks, he shared, "Before I commence, I'd like to recite a verse from one of our revered Indian/Hindu scriptures, The Bhagavad Gita - 'Karmanye vadhikaraste, Ma Phaleshu Kadachana, Ma Karmaphalahetur bhurma, Te Sango Stvakarmani.' This verse beautifully encapsulates the concept of selfless action, encouraging a focus on the process rather than the outcome. It teaches the value of detachment from the fruits of one's labor." Fans of the 39-year-old congratulated him on Instagram. Making a heartwarming speech at the event the actor said, "It is a humbling moment for me to be recognised as an artiste by the prestigious TIME Magazine! I'm here to represent India's moment under the sun and I'm proud of the fact that India is becoming 'a fulcrum of progressive storytelling through cinema." He further adds, "I was very active as a street theatre actor. What exactly is street theatre? It's a very unique format of theatre, where actors in a group form a circle at a public place, call people to watch the act. And the act encapsulates the social fabric of our country. It's either a satire or a firm call for social change."

Since his debut in 2012 with Vicky Donor, Ayushmann has been the face of mid-sized, critically acclaimed projects. Over time, he firmly solidified his position as an actor who spearheads progressive films that also perform impressively at the box office. However, everything changed when the pandemic struck. The actor is currently enjoying the success of Dream Girl 2 as the film did a domestic box office collection of Rs 100 crore.
